About

Under New Zealand’s traffic light system, our Centre is open to the public by appointment, in both red and orange. From 1 March 2022, SPCA is implementing a temporary vaccine mandate across our 33 Centres for staff, volunteers and the general public. All people over the age of 12 entering SPCA Centres must show their vaccine pass upon entry. Adoption and foster pick-ups are still welcome for unvaccinated people via contactless means. If you are interested in adopting, fostering or volunteering, please contact us via the website or by phoning us to make an appointment, our team will be able to discuss next steps. In line with Government regulations, physical distancing, face coverings, and contact-tracing measures are required and must be adhered to when appointments take place. Our Inspectorate teams are an essential service, continuing their work in the community and responding to call-outs, while upholding strict health and safety measures. For any animal welfare concerns or general queries, please contact our Centre for support. Our lovely, spacious centre in Greymouth was opened in 2013 and was built with massive support from the community. We offer a Canine Education programme for special needs children which is fully supported by the Cobden and Greymouth High Schools. We also have a boarding cattery with eleven single and four double units.
